1. County Judge Stephen C. Floyd called the meeting to order and ratified that a Quorum is present at 8:34 am. 

2. Recess the Open Session.        Session was cancelled.

3. Cancelled Executive Session - The Commissioners' Court will meet in Closed/Executive Session in accordance with V.T.C.A. Government Code, Chapter 551, Subchapter D. as follows:

6.  The Invocation was given by County Clerk Elizabeth McGill.
Ms. McGill  led in the Pledges to the United States and the State of Texas. 


7. Announcement: Anyone intending to address the Commissioners’ Court shall complete and turn in to the County Judge a Witness Testimony form with the exception of Tom Green County Employees who are providing resource information pursuant to an Agenda item.
             
8. Moved to approve the following items on the CONSENT AGENDA as presented: 
A. Acknowledged the minutes from the last meeting(s) of January 30th, 2018.

Moved to approve the Treasurer's Claim Register, through February 1st, 2018  in the amount of $629,714.18 and Bills to be paid in the amount of $1,572,292.38.

12. Consider recognizing Tom Green County 4-H students Nathan Waldron and Matthew Trees for their 1st place award at the Area TCEA Robotics Competition. (Jill Donegan and Jaye Chasteen)  No Action required.

Matthew Trees brought and displayed his 1st Place Trophy that he received at the Area TCEA Robotics Competition.  He explained about his project and his years of competition.  He was introduced by Wanda Green who is in charge of the Makers Space at the Stephens Central Library where these young men worked on their ideas.  One improvement they made this year was to utilize tank tracks on their robot for more maneuverability.  The boys are both home schooled but active members of the Tom Green County 4-H Program. They will be traveling to Austin to compete in the State competition.
             
13. Consider presentation of horticulture results of 2017. (Allison Watkins)  No Action required.

Allison Watkins, Texas A&M Ag Life Horticulturist, gave the highlights of the various projects that the Master Gardeners and student groups had participated in this year.  The attached brochure was presented to the Court with some of the highlights for 2017.

14. Consider request to apply for VOCA grant that helps fund the Victim Witness Assistant position in the DA office. (Chastity Gauwain)

Update:  Panels are going up on schedule and the project is moving along on schedule.

22.   Future Agenda Items:
1.  Acknowledge briefing and updates on Civil Air Patrol Unit.
2.  Consider accepting quotes for Detention Center.
 
 23.  Announcements: 
 
1.  Acknowledge that today's Court Agenda was posted  February 2nd, 2018 at 2:29 PM.  
 2.  The Local Civil Air Patrol will be posting the Colors for next week's Court.
3.  Judge Floyd asked for prayers for the family and the Church family due to the unexpected death of Immanuel Baptist Church's Youth Pastor Josh Fee (39).

  
 24.  Judge Floyd adjourned the meeting at 9:11 AM.
